Design Manager - Australia

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Manager to lead the design and development of the primary substations for our photovoltaic (PV) plants. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the engineering and design processes, ensuring that all substation designs are efficient, cost-effective, and comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

• Lead and manage the design of primary substations for PV power plants, including coordination with engineering teams and external consultants.
• Oversee the development of substation designs, ensuring they meet all technical, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Ensure the proper integration of electrical and mechanical systems within the substation design.
• Review and approve design documents, specifications, and drawings to ensure quality and compliance.
• Coordinate with other departments (e.g., procurement, construction) to ensure alignment with project timelines, budgets, and goals.
• Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including vendors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the design team, ensuring adherence to best practices and company standards.
• Troubleshoot design-related issues and implement solutions to mitigate project risks.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations during all stages of design.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the design and management of primary substations for PV plants or related power infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, particularly in the context of substations and renewable energy.
• Experience with AutoCAD, ETAP, or other relevant design and simulation software.
• In-depth knowledge of international standards and regulations related to substation design (e.g., IEC, ANSI).
• Proven track record of managing complex projects from conception to completion.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
• Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus).
